Yeast Risen Coffee Cake

The March 2011 Daring Baker’s Challenge was hosted by Ria of Ria’s Collection and Jamie of Life’s a Feast. Ria and Jamie challenged The Daring Bakers to bake a yeasted Meringue Coffee Cake.

I filled mine with cinnamon sugar, cinnamon chips, and almonds.  I love cinnamon chips, Hershey's makes them, I love putting them in everything.



I have decided after doing this recipe that I do not like doing recipes that require yeast during the winter.  I am very well versed in rising in the oven, but it is a pain.  I make a steam box out of the oven by putting a pyrex pan on the bottom rack and then filling it with boiling water.  Then I put the item that needs to raise on the top rack and allow the yeast to do the work.
